The Head Shake Test for clinical monitoring in Meniere’s Disease.

This study by DiStadio et al (2019) offers clues for managing Ménière's Disease (MD) more effectively.

Key Findings:

  • Presence and persistence of ipsilesional Horizontal Semicircular Canal (HSNy) may predict a new crisis within 7 days.

  • Patients with this predictor also face increased risk of short recurrence of vertigo attacks.

  • Simple execution of the HST and high predictive value make it a recommended tool in clinical monitoring.

A few limitations and more studies necessary, but these findings mark progress in the management of MD!
